Bristol's harbourside is made for an easy first meeting. M Shed, on the quayside, and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery up the hill are both free, the little harbour ferries hop between the docks, and the waterfront is lined with places to eat. Walk up through the Clifton streets to the suspension bridge if the conversation is going well.
