Vegan dating in New York brings together our members in New York City, especially Manhattan and Brooklyn, and across the rest of the state, from Long Island and Westchester to the Hudson Valley and upstate. It is one of our three biggest US states.

Who our New York members are

New York is younger than our US average. A third of members here are 35 to 44, the biggest group, a quarter are 45 to 54, and under-35s make up nearly a fifth. Only about one in seven is 65 or over. Men and women are almost exactly even.

New York's vegan scene

New York City has one of the deepest vegan restaurant scenes in the world, from long-standing places in the East Village to newer spots across Williamsburg and Bushwick in Brooklyn. There are vegan bakeries, pizzerias and delis, plant-based markets at weekends, and vegan social and activist groups in every borough. Upstate, the Hudson Valley has farm sanctuaries and farm-to-table restaurants with good vegan options.

Getting around

In the city, a date across two boroughs can take as long as one across two towns elsewhere. Upstate, distances are bigger. Set your distance to what you will actually travel, and the matching follows.

Green space in the city

For a first date with room to talk, walk the High Line on the west side of Manhattan, which is free and runs above the streets for well over a mile, or wander the Union Square Greenmarket, where farmers sell produce several days a week. In Brooklyn, Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden are good choices in spring and autumn.

Beyond the five boroughs

Our New York members are not all city dwellers. Plenty live on Long Island, in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, and further upstate around Albany, Rochester and Buffalo. For them, a wider distance and a weekend date often work better than trying to meet on a weeknight. The Hudson Valley in particular, with its river towns and farm sanctuaries, is a good halfway point between the city and upstate, and Metro-North trains make it an easy day out without a car. Long Island members have the beaches and wineries of the North Fork on their doorstep.
